A lot has happened in the past couple weeks since my last post.
To break it down…
GMTK 2026 - Solar Express
Went pretty well!
Honestly, the ratings we got weren’t great, and we certainly got some people just rating it without playing based on the comments, but it is what it is. Imo it’s one of the most fun jam games I’ve worked on. I have some WIP stuff in GMTK 2026 but I might eventually make a proper post for it in the Games folder. I have a bunch of WIP dev clips from this one.

Linux
So I’ve been on a brief week-long Linux adventure. I was thinking of doing another big article like Switching to Linux 2025. Although, I’ve kinda given up on it already. I tried CachyOS this time, with KDE Plasma again. And although it’s nice, I like using Plasma, I’m just getting weird performance issues. Downloading a game on Steam freezes my entire PC, my PC just freezes up constantly in general. Disks refuse to auto-mount consistently despite multiple fix attempts, etc. etc.
It’s cool, it’s fun… but it’s a hassle.
As much as I’d love to fully switch to Linux, it is just more work to get things done.
I messed up in the process of installing it and deleted my Windows bootloader too. As a result, I ended up just fresh reinstalling Windows again, running it through a lot of debloating and customising it with Windhawk. It’s an okay experience, not as nice as KDE Plasma, but still. I got it to a nice level of customisation where I don’t miss Linux as much.
And… I’m keeping Linux on my laptop anyway, so I still have that experience anyway. I think Linux is a perfect OS for a secondary laptop, but maybe still not quite there yet as a full replacement for my main PC.
Maybe I should just make a resources page for customising / debloating Windows…
Quartz v5 Migration
I finally got around to it!
I had some time to kill today, decided to go back to my v5 branch for this website and upgrade everything. There’s still some bugs, but I managed to work around most of it. I didn’t realise that the port attempt for bluesky comments worked from last time I worked on it…
This website is now running on Quartz v5! It allows me to do cool things like show Obsidian bases, e.g. My Games.base or All Posts.base - cool interactive pages which display lists of stuff on the site.

Overall, very cool features. In the background, the whole system is far more modular which has its pros and cons.
The migration is very much a pros vs cons situation though, due to how much work it was to make everything work well and work around the long-standing bugs. I think it’s worth it going forward though.
I also kept v4 running under https://v4.notes.yernemm.xyz/
Similar to how I did it when I was testing v5, this version syncs its content with the live version so both should be usable, but v4 will not be maintained and some features will be missing.

I dunno, I think I’m done typing, and that about covers the major stuff I’ve been doing lately.
I mean, I’ve been playing Palworld, Split Fiction, watching Chainsmoker Cat, I dunno what else to say.
