So it’s like 2:20 am and I really want to write a post before I go to sleep but not sure what to talk about so this might be a messy one. This semi-frequent long-form posting is becoming a mild addiction.
Splashdown!
I mentioned in 04-06 that I’ve been keeping an eye on the Artemis II mission. Tonight, they successfully splashed down! I watched it happen through the YouTube stream in VRChat. I can say, I was here!
Basis VR
So this is a project I’ve heard about before for some time. Looks like they’re doing a large playtest this weekend, maybe I’ll join in.
Essentially, it’s some kind of social VR project that isn’t really a platform in itself, but an open way for people to build interconnected platforms / experiences on top of it?
They seem to also be using something similar to ATProto under the hood (With a DID for records) but not quite compatible with the protocol to be interconnected with Bluesky and whatnot. That really quite interests me as I love ATProto related stuff…
NMS Update
So, No Man’s Sky added an update that pretty much adds Pokemon battles into the game. I think that’s pretty cool. I don’t have too much to say about it yet, I tried it and they worked petty well, even had like a soundtrack playing in the arena. As much as I love NMS, I am kinda burned out on it. I’m glad they’re continuing to add cool stuff to it but being in late game for a while (and not really interested in starting fresh) makes me lose interest in a lot of the new stuff they add. But that’s just a me thing, I’m weird with games.
Anime
There’s some new ones that I started. A good friend got me to watch the NieR anime. It was pretty cool I suppose with the visuals, but I’m not 100% sure if I’ll find it interesting yet.
We also started watching Needy Girl Overdose. Very cool visuals, but I don’t really know what there is to the plot yet. Things were just kinda happening in the first episode and I’m a bit lost.
I’ve also been meaning to watch Lain soon, I may get around to that in the next week or so. I’m bad with finishing stuff but Lain is short enough I may actually manage it.
BMTH LIVE DVD
Recently I’ve seen Bring Me the Horizon: L.I.V.E. in São Paulo (Live Immersive Virtual Experiment) in cinemas. It was pretty fun, I’ve never seen one of those concert films before. I just got the DVD / CDs for it today. I forgot that DVD is an old format and tends to be pretty low res, so I was disappointed the recording is only 720x480 resolution. I hope they release a HD version somewhere at some point, I’d prefer to see this with a few more pixels…
